Quick Summary: OmniClip is designed with privacy in mind. We only collect the minimum data necessary to provide our text synchronization service, and your data is encrypted and stored securely using industry-standard practices.

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Storage Location

Your data is stored using Google Firebase services, which provide enterprise-grade security and compliance with international data protection standards.

🔒 End-to-End Encryption

OmniClip offers optional end-to-end encryption to ensure maximum security for your sensitive data. When enabled, your data is encrypted on your device before being sent to the cloud, meaning only you can decrypt and access it.

AES-256 Encryption: We use Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with 256-bit keys, the same encryption standard used by governments and financial institutions worldwide.

Client-Side Encryption: All encryption happens on your device. Your encryption key never leaves your device and is stored securely in your device's secure storage (Keychain on iOS/macOS, KeyStore on Android, browser secure storage on web).

Zero-Knowledge Architecture: When encryption is enabled, we cannot access your data. Even if our servers were compromised, your encrypted data would remain secure because we don't have access to your encryption keys.

What Gets Encrypted:

  • Text messages and clipboard content
  • File uploads (images, videos, documents)
  • All metadata associated with your content

User Control: Encryption is optional and can be toggled on/off in your account settings. You have complete control over when your data is encrypted.

Note: If you enable encryption and lose access to your device or clear your app data, your encrypted content cannot be recovered. We recommend backing up important data before enabling encryption.
